Why It Works

"Why It Works" is the love child of too much Netflix and a shameless addiction to self-help books. Our guest experts use entertaining clips from TV and movies as a springboard to explain why things work. Remember, the enemy of learning is boring!

The Big Lie

"The Big Lie” is the show where guests share the long-held lie that once discovered, changed everything for them. Join us as we go behind the curtain to hear the truth, and learn how to make it work for you.

What to expect the day of recording

Here is a high level overview of Why It Works:

1. Joe welcomes guest
2. We discuss how we ended up recording the show together, latest updates, etc 3. Joe asks guest to respond to following “Getting to know you” prompt: Tell us what you do, but explain it as if you were talking to a 5 year old
4. Joe shares why he is happy guest is here to set up the videos
5. Joe plays first video clip and asks guest to respond with their observations and insights (repeat 4x, once for each video)
6. After discussion of last video, to wrap up Joe asks the guest what they are working on and how the audience can get in touch
7. Joe thanks the guest and closes the show

Please provide the following to be considered

A. A few words explaining what your TOPIC is
B. After the topic is decided, Joe will email you links to short, 2-3 minute YouTube video clips relevant to our discussion. Please select your top four videos. I am happy to source other videos if we need to. Also, will consider your suggestions if you send similar links to me.

C. Guest information

• Short paragraph bio (mandatory)

• Photo (highly recommended)

• Any contact or business information you'd like to share (such as your website, books, or other project info)

What to expect the day of recording

Here is a high level overview of the Big Lie:

1. Joe introduces guest and guest shares their background
2. If playing video or audio Joe will share his screen and play it; if content is written, either Joe or guest will read the content
3. We discuss the BIG LIE, why it matters, and what it changes (this is the main part of the discussion)
4. To wrap up discussion, Joe asks guest to share THE NEXT STEP, a specific, concrete step that people can do to take advantage of this new knowledge
5. Joe invites the guest to share what they are working on and how the audience can get in touch
6. Joe thanks the guest and closes the show

Please provide the following to be considered

A. A few sentences explaining what your BIG LIE is and why it matters
B. The 1 to 3 words that summarize the BIG LIE (we will use this for the title)
C. A video clip, song, quote, or book passage that will serve as a springboard for discussing the BIG LIE (please provide a link that plays the video or song, or the quote or book passage you’d like to use (total length 2-3 minutes tops)

Technical requirements for all guests (it’s quite painless, I promise!)

• For audio quality a headset or microphone works better than your laptop mic. Apple earbuds with mic are ok.

• Please ensure you are in a relatively quiet environment

• Power. Please plug in your laptop or have a cable nearby.

• Internet. We will be using the Zoom app. Please ensure you have a strong and steady internet connection.

• Note: We will be in a video conference so we can collaborate better, but the final product will be a podcast (audio only).
